What the bot actually does
Counting invites is easy. GroupFinds counts the ones that mattered — and the person who brought them answers for it.
The inviter answers for who they bring
Arrivals stay tied to the member whose link they used. If somebody they brought is banned, kicked, or timed out for longer than the owner’s minimum, within the window the owner sets, that is recorded as a strike against the inviter. Enough strikes and their inviting pauses for a while.
Leaving is never a strike — people drift away from servers and that is not the fault of whoever invited them. Only a moderator acting on somebody counts, the owner chooses which of bans, kicks and timeouts count at all, and strikes are counted from the end of the last pause, so a penalty that has been served is over.
Invites that only count when they work
An invite pays when the person arrives, again if they are still in the server after the stay window the owner sets, and again the first time they are in a voice call. Arriving is easy; staying is harder; joining a call is the thing that turns somebody into a member.
Levelling that rewards showing up
XP for messages and for time in voice, with roles that grant and remove themselves, and optional decay so a leaderboard reflects who is around now. Existing progress can be imported.
Camera-required voice channels
Where an owner has turned it on, somebody who joins one of the chosen voice channels without a camera is asked to turn it on, and is moved or muted if they do not. It applies only to the channels the owner picks.
Poach-watch: evidence, never a verdict
Patterns that look like somebody recruiting out of a server are posted to the moderators’ channel with the accounts and the timestamps. It never bans, kicks, mutes or accuses anybody — every decision stays with a human.
Every threshold, window and reward above is set by the server owner, and each of these features is off until an owner turns it on.

Frequently asked questions
How is XP calculated?
The owner sets how much a message is worth, how much a minute in voice is worth, and the cooldown between messages that earn. Reply and reaction bonuses can be switched on separately. (Until 2026-09-20 this page named specific rates; they matched no live server, because the rates are a setting.)
What are the level thresholds?
Level = floor(√(XP ÷ 100)) + 1, the same curve in every server. Level 1 starts at 0 XP, level 2 at 100, level 3 at 400, level 4 at 900, level 5 at 1,600 and level 10 at 8,100.
Can I customise the leaderboard?
Members see the leaderboard with /gf-top and their own standing with /gf-me. The leaderboard channel and update frequency on the dashboard are saved, but the bot does not post a leaderboard in a channel yet.
How do I set up level roles?
In the dashboard under Leveling System, Role Rewards. Assign one or more Discord roles per level, and choose whether earlier rewards are removed when a member levels up.
What is XP decay?
Decay slowly reduces XP for inactive members so the leaderboard reflects who is active now. You set the inactivity period, the amount (a percentage or a flat number), how often it runs, a minimum XP floor it will never take someone below, and any exempt roles.
Can members lose XP for breaking the rules or leaving?
Yes. You can also take XP away for each timeout a moderator gives, and reset a member's XP to zero if they leave, are kicked or are banned. Each is a setting in the dashboard.
What does levelling cost?
Nothing. Every levelling feature is free, including XP tracking, level role rewards, the timeout penalty, the leave reset and XP decay.
How do invite rewards work?
Members earn XP and roles for inviting people who stay for a minimum number of days. Tiers let you increase the reward as invite counts grow. Invite rewards are optional and off until you turn them on, and they need one permission the bot does not ask for when it is added: the GroupFinds role needs Manage Server, because Discord only shows a bot which invite link each new member used when it has that permission. GroupFinds uses it only to look at your invite links and how many times each one was used. It never uses it to change your server name, icon, channels, roles or settings, and Manage Server does not let a bot ban, kick or time out anyone. To give it: open Server Settings, then Roles, then the GroupFinds role, turn on Manage Server, and press Save Changes.
Can I exclude channels from XP?
Yes. Exclude any channel under Leveling System, XP Settings — useful for bot-spam and off-topic channels.
