1. What this covers
These terms apply to the website at www.groupfinds.com and to the GroupFinds Discord bot.
Using either means you accept them. If you add the bot to a Discord server, you are accepting them on
behalf of that server as well, and you are confirming you are allowed to.
They sit alongside the Privacy Policy, which describes exactly what the bot records. Read that one too; it is the part most people actually want.
2. What the service is
- A directory. Public pages listing online communities, with an invite link, a description and activity figures. Most listings are built from Discord's own public invite data rather than submitted by anyone; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is read and section 6 below for having a listing corrected or removed.
- A Discord bot. Voice and message activity tracking, XP and levelling, role rewards, leaderboards, rendered stat cards, optional moderation rules a server owner configures, invite attribution, and an optional cross-server Passport that each member controls for themselves.
- Commands you can add to your own Discord account.
/gf-passportand/gf-reportcan be installed to an account rather than to a server, and then used in servers GroupFinds is not in. Using them there gives us nothing about that server beyond its ID and name, and nothing at all about you beyond what the command needs to answer you.
Both are provided as they are. Features change, and some are experiments.
3. What it costs
Nothing. Every bot feature, levelling included, is free, and there is no card to enter. If that ever changes, existing servers will be told before it does, and no feature that is free today will be taken away from a server already using it without notice.
4. Your Discord account and your server
You must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines while using GroupFinds. Nothing here overrides them.
To add the bot to a server you need Manage Server in that server. By adding it you confirm you have that permission and that you are authorised to make this decision for the community.
5. What you may not do
- Use GroupFinds to break the law, or to harass, dox or threaten anyone.
- List a community that exists to distribute illegal material, non-consensual content, or content sexualising minors. Listings like this are removed without notice and reported.
- Inflate activity figures artificially — alt accounts parked in voice channels, scripted messages, or anything else designed to make a server or a member look more active than they are.
- Attempt to extract another server's data, or another member's data, from the bot or the site.
- Scrape the directory at a rate that degrades it for other people, or resell its contents as your own dataset.
- Reverse-engineer, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
6. Listings
A community may be listed either because somebody submitted it or because a public link to it was found and its public invite read; the directory section of the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what that reads. Either way, tell us and we will take a listing down — we do not ask for proof of ownership to remove one, only to claim and edit one. We may also decline or remove a listing without giving a reason, though we generally will give one. A listing whose invite link stops working is taken down rather than left up with a dead link, and its page returns a "gone" response.
Claiming a listing as its owner requires proving ownership of the Discord server through Discord itself. Claims that cannot be proven are not granted.
You keep ownership of the text and images you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to display them on the directory and in links and previews pointing at it, for as long as the listing is up.
7. Your data, and your members' data
The Privacy Policy governs this, and it is specific rather than general. In
summary: the bot cannot read message contents and does not ask for the ability to, it cannot read direct
messages, and it never records audio. Anyone can have their data deleted by writing to
support@groupfinds.com, and a member can delete their own
Passport instantly with /gf-passport.
Removing the bot from a server stops all collection for that server immediately. Ask and that server's records are deleted; otherwise they are deleted within 90 days.
8. Availability
There is no uptime guarantee. The bot runs on hosted infrastructure and Discord's own gateway, both of which have outages. Activity that happens while the bot is offline may not be recorded, and gaps are not reconstructed from guesses — a figure the bot cannot stand behind is not shown.
9. Ending it
You can stop at any time: remove the bot from your server, delete your account, or simply stop using the site.
We can suspend or remove a listing, an account or the bot's presence in a server if these terms are broken, if a listing is illegal or harmful, or if the service is being abused in a way that affects other people. Where it is not an emergency we will say why first.
10. Liability
GroupFinds is provided without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for anything arising from a Discord outage or a change Discord makes to its platform. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or fraud.
Because the service is free, where liability cannot be excluded it is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is zero.
11. Changes
These terms can change. The date at the top changes with them, and a material change will be announced on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the courts of Osaka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim locally, this does not take that right away.
